Account & data

Delete your HeyGroop account

You can delete your HeyGroop account and its data at any time, right from the app. Here's exactly how, and exactly what happens.

How to delete your account in the app

  1. Open HeyGroop and go to the You screen.
  2. Choose Delete account.
  3. Confirm at the second prompt. Deletion is permanent, so we ask twice on purpose.

HeyGroop accounts are anonymous by design — there's no email or password, and your account lives on your device. That's why deletion happens inside the app, where your device holds the only key to your data.

What gets deleted

Permanently removed
  • Your account and its identity key
  • Your display name in every Groop
  • Every message you sent
  • Your profile record and any purchase entitlements
Kept, but de-identified
  • Decisions a group already agreed to together
  • The constraints attached to those decisions

A decision a group ratified belongs to the whole group, not to one person — so deleting your account removes you from those records (your name and identity are stripped) but doesn't erase the group's shared outcome for everyone else. Nothing that identifies you remains.

How long it takes

Deletion runs immediately when you confirm. Your account and the data listed above are removed as part of that request; there's no waiting period and no separate review.
